The original site was essentially dead in the water due to several design flaws and other problems. All titles were the same and all pages were within folders (including the home page) and the folders were named with numbers and the file names themselves used numbers instead of keywords.All links in the menu were in images and also javascript and with file names as numbers the search engines were not picking up main keywords. There was also a lot of deprecated code and code bloat. This was the result of someone who didn't understand SEO (Search Engine Optimization) using GoDaddy's Website Tonight WYSIWYG program.
The site also had a cannonical problem (domain not reverting to www) and the home page was within a folder and linked to as index.html plus the domain is considered another home page which causes further duplication problems for the home page. Also this site had originally been on another domain and transferred to this domain so this site was essentially starting over.
We fixed the cannonical problems, kept the same color scheme, widened the page to 900 pixels, added an expanding menu in left sidebar, moved all pages to the root and used keywords for their file names, then set up 301 redirects from all old pages to the new. We also removed the background from the product images and added more text to several pages.
