Consider the Golden Oldies

If you've ever surfed the net with an older computer (lack of memory, older browser, slower modem), then you have probably experienced your computer crashing or taking interminably long for web pages to load. This is because some web sites are designed with the latest technology which does a fantastic job of promoting the webmaster's skills but then the web site looses visitors because the design is not compatible with older browsers/platforms.

Web sites that don't consider viewers that are still using older technology are eliminating all those who can't afford to buy a new computer every few years or a 30 inch screen. Also there are those from 3rd world countries to consider, students and teachers in schools and colleges with a limited tech budget and also senior citizens on fixed incomes.

If your customers are from the higher echelons of society or in the high tech field this may not be a problem. But if they are the general public you might want to consider the golden oldies in your design.
